Its simple really, and timeless... line, form, composition, pattern... a sense of atmosphere; a quality of light, shadow, space; a sense of movement... Always curious to find through experimentation what resonates and eliminate what doesn't...

The abstract work begins from nothingness, wordless as with music... an improvised, intuitive, process-oriented practice with works evolving from previous sessions, attentive to chance phenomenal occurrences...sometimes then erased, scrubbed, layered again, sanded... aiming towards an undirected, suggestive, perceptual experience.

Sometimes surprised when a piece starts and finishes in a day; not often, but rather over weeks, months or years... Hopefully a work will eventually settle into itself, acquiring an aura of presence.
